SBDC 2018 photo shoot

SBDC has always prided itself on how well the company members are able to balance real life and dance. We are part-time dancers with full-time passion. Thank you, Eva Payette for capturing the spirit of “Real People Who Dance” in this little gem of Montreal.

Roe v. Wade

A message from Sonia:
“I could not stay silent on this. Thank you Amanda Gorman for your poetic genius, SBDC dancers for allowing my outrage to flow through your bodies and Imperium Dance Studio for the space to enable our movements to speak out. Politicians have no place in our personal and private reproductive matters. #mybodymychoice.” - Sonia Balazovjech, Founder & Director

Education Creates Empathy

SBDC proudly contributed our talents to a thesis project by recreating the written word into moving art with a message.

Racial profiling is an act that affects many daily. Through research, it’s been proven that the more knowledge you have the more empathetic you become.

At the Barbershop

Choreographed by Dawn Patulli for "RÊVE", November 2015

Music: Dream a Little Dream of Me by the Mamas and the Papas, and Mr. Sandman by The Chordettes

from RÊVE a dance production benefiting SuperKutz Scholarship Foundation Every student who demonstrates academic achievement and the potential to succeed in college and university deserves the opportunity to pursue their educational goals regardless of financial limitations. That is the mantra behind SuperKutz Scholarship Foundation, a non-profit, charitable organization established in 2008 for the purpose of awarding scholarships to deserving young people. The Foundation was founded by local business man, Cleaton Daley, who witnessed for himself the untapped potential in the youth who came through his barbershop door every day. From 2010 to 2014, SuperKutz awarded over $38,000 in scholarships to 43 students without regard to race, faith or gender. The only criteria are academic achievement and financial need. RÊVE was the most recent benefit production produced by SBDC Montreal, a non-profit company that uses dance as a powerful tool to raise awareness and funds for various charities and organizations that render valuable services to our community. "At the Barbershop" was a tribute to Mr. Daley - recognizing where it all began....
